On determination of all key parameters in all sub-plants of a R&D pilot plant yet another interim step has to be done before the actual production plant is constructed. This kind of plants is normally considerably larger than the R&D plant and gives information about operation and handling of the plant from the operator's point of view.
The capacity of a pilot plant is usually chosen in a way that first sales quantities can be produced meeting all quality features. On the basis of this plant size feasibility studies can be done. So that market chances and -risks of the product to be manufactured will be supplied.
Out of the pilot plant data investment costs, manpower requirements, raw material and energy consumption of the production plant can be fairly estimated.
According to the picture the spinning media can be directly applied on the thread in order to keep the circulating liquid quantity as low as possible. Alternatively, threads can be as well extruded in filled vats/troughs . The plant concepts reach from dope production, filtration, degassing, spinning nozzles, precipitation bath, extraction, drying, traverse system, post-treatment through to winding. We can also provide data about recovery of the used solvents.
In the fiber production the spinning heads are of particular importance. From rheology through to the design of nozzles and the precipitation bath, all individual elements are adapted to the process requirements and respective constructions are done. Here we can revert to more than 90 years of expertise in the most varying systems of solvents and polymers. We have already built plants and spinning components for polymers, as for example PAN, CE, PS, PES, PI, PP, AR, CA, CV, PLA and other similar substances.
